Checklists

Packing, prep, and the things that need doing before anyone leaves. Checklists sit on their own tab in the trip, and because they are shared, a group stops keeping four private versions of the same list.

Keep them separate

Make as many lists as the trip needs: packing, documents, things to sort before you go. Items can carry a category (packing, documents, accommodation, transport, activities, food) and a note when the title alone will not remind you what you meant.

Give items an owner

Assign an item to someone on the trip and it becomes theirs rather than everyone’s. There is a filter for just your own items, which is the difference between four people bringing an adapter and nobody bringing one.

Let Jonetsu draft it

Ask for a packing list and you get one to edit instead of a blank page. It is most useful after the plan changes. "Now that we added the jetski, what else should I pack?" tends to surface the things you would have remembered at the airport.

Questions

Worth knowing

Can I see only the items I’m responsible for?

Yes. Filter the list down to what is assigned to you, so a long shared list becomes a short personal one.

Does everyone see the same list?

People on the trip do, and ticking something off shows for everyone. That is rather the point: it is how you avoid the duplicate-adapter problem.
