Shared expenses
Somebody always ends up fronting the villa, and somebody always forgets who paid for dinner. Logging costs as they happen turns the end of the trip into one number each, instead of an evening with a calculator and some awkwardness.
Add a cost in about ten seconds
Amount, who paid, a date, and a line about what it was for — that is the whole form. The category sorts itself out from what you typed, so "taxi to the airport" files itself without you picking from a dropdown. Or skip the form entirely and tell Jonetsu "James paid 1000 for dinner last night", then approve what it drafts.
Three ways to read the money
Recent is the running log of what has been spent. Who owes what is the one people actually open: the current balance between everyone. By category is where you find out how much of this trip was, in fact, dinner.
Settling up
When it is time to square things away, Jonetsu works out the shortest route to zero instead of having everyone pay everyone. Record a settlement when someone pays their share back and the balances update.

Worth knowing
Does everything have to be split evenly?
An even split across the group is the default, since it covers most shared costs. Small personal purchases usually do not need to go in at all.
Can I just ask who owes what?
Yes. Ask Jonetsu "what do I owe so far?" or "who owes whom after last night?" and it reads the current balances back to you.
