Collaborate

Planning with other people

Group trips fall apart in the gap between the group chat and the actual plan. Bringing people into the trip means everyone is reading the same thing, and you stop being the only person who knows what is happening.

Add someone to the trip

Open your trip and go to Collaborators. There are two ways in, and you can use both on the same trip.

  1. Open the trip and go to Collaborators
  2. Under Invite by email, type their address and send — Jonetsu emails them the invite
  3. Or under Invite link, pick Viewer or Editor, then copy the link
  4. Paste it in your group chat: the link unfurls with your trip’s cover art, so it arrives looking like the trip instead of a raw URL

Viewer or Editor

Editors build the trip with you: adding days, moving plans around, changing details. Viewers see all of it and follow along, which suits everyone who mainly wants to know where to be on Thursday. You can move someone between the two whenever you like, and it takes effect straight away.

  • Editor — plans alongside you and can change the itinerary
  • Viewer — sees the whole trip and follows the plan
  • The trip owner looks after invites and roles

Questions

Worth knowing

What if they don’t have a Jonetsu account?

The invite walks them through signing up and drops them straight into the trip afterwards, so they never have to go hunting for it.

Can I change someone from Viewer to Editor later?

Any time. Switch their role on the Collaborators page and it applies immediately, which helps when someone starts out just following along and then wants to help plan.

Can I turn off a link I already shared?

Yes. Regenerate it for a fresh link, or revoke it and the old one stops working. Anyone already in the trip stays in.
